It doesn't step over into outright horror despite seeming like it's going that way, but a sense of mystery runs through it all. You get the feeling that you're about to unearth some terrible secret at any moment. Unfortunately, it doesn't really come to a satisfying conclusion, but the journey is fun.Some of the puzzles were clever and some were simple and one was frustrating. I'm not really sure what the "twist" was really supposed to mean, aside from the obvious, and I don't think it's really worth digging in to understand it all. Just take it for what it gives you.I got this for a big discount, and given the completion time, that's probably for the best. It's something to keep your eye on if you like the concept (and if you enjoyed similar game-within-a-game Pony Island) but don't expect it to keep you busy for more than one session.. Really interesting concept but just a little too short. Try and pick it up in a sale.. I feel like I just played a video game based on cult classic horror movies like Eraserhead.10\/10. The puzzles are good. The idea is wonderful. The story and the "cutscenes", well... They could have come out with something better. I didn't like whatever they were tying to tell the audience (or maybe I didn't get it).Although, this was a students proyect, so they deserve a greater merit for this project.It is short but I enjoyed it a lot. If you want to try a different video game experience, give it a try.. An excellent and unique experience, there is no game quite like Calendula. For a game that is mostly made of seemingly broken features and insane surreal glitches, it tells a fairly coherent and enjoyable story. Even if you're not in it for the story, it's still a supreme mind-screw. The puzzles are brain-tingling but solvable, and each time I solved one I felt like I'd done something incredibly wrong.Note the short playtime, but also know that the game is expertly paced and just the right length for the type of experience it delivers. If you want to feel truly bewildered and slightly uncomfortable, then this game is definitely for you. It never let me get my bearings, and it was over before I knew what happened. I love it.
